Online Workshop | General Public
Haegue Yang’s Totem Robots were included as a single installation in her Arrivals exhibition at Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria. While referencing the human form with the clothing rack used, the relation to function of domestic and commercial objects such as hairpieces, a sink strainer, metal rings and chains, dustpans have been made void. In these works, what may endure are suggestions of histories and the possibilities of reinvention.
In this workshop led by Manuel Dacanay of Benilde’s Industrial Design program, ordinary domestic equipment are upcycled into sculptural and functional pieces. Centered on creative consumption inspired by the extension of the life of objects, this upcycling workshop encourages participants to use their understanding of the objects’ history to transform these, with reference to Haegue Yang’s Totem Robots, which are included in our current exhibition Hague Yang: The Cone of Concern.
Advance registration is required on or before 16 January. Participants will be asked to send their project proposals for upcyling by 30 January. To register, please fill out the form below.
